Goblin design on Persian carpet
The history and background of Kerman carpets go back many years. At a time when the French also had a say in the industry. The Goblen design on the Kerman carpet is an interpretation of the designs of Abson and Savoneri in France, which is known as the Goblen design in Kerman.
Jean Goebbels was a French merchant and craftsman who became famous in the 15th century by setting up dyeing workshops. In the 16th century, he first set up a goblin weaving workshop, which was woven based on the texture of the toaster. After this period, with the advent of the second art, Goebbels weaved to Ophel, and later, in the fourth artistic period, new people in the dyeing and weaving profession entered France and engaged in this work.
During this period, topless goblets were woven in special workshops for the court and royal people. In 1825, Goblin weavers were trained in carpet weaving to begin weaving carpets in France. The special feature of French carpets and goblets is that they have oval bergamots and the main motifs in them are cauliflower and fringe leaves.
Goblin design in Kerman carpet weaving
During the Qajar period, with the successive travels of royal men and kings to European countries, including France, their textiles and weavings were brought to Iran as decorations for doors and walls of courts and houses. In homes, headboards and windows were used. After the First World War, the weaving of the Goblen design began on the carpets of Kerman. During this period, merchants in the United States and Britain were keen to buy French goblins and wanted nothing more than designs for this weave.
These traders wanted to buy carpets with large and secluded flower and idol designs. For this reason, the texture of these models reached its peak in Kerman. That’s why the Goebbels project is also called the European project.
