The handmade carpet brand will be unveiled at Expo Iran
Fereshteh Dast Pak, pointing out that the global rendering of Iranian handmade carpets will be unveiled at the Iran Expo in February 2019, said: “This will stabilize the identity of Iranian handmade carpets.”
Dast Pak stated that the export of this product continues despite the sanctions, adding: “With the cooperation of the Electronic Commerce Development Organization, handmade carpets are also sold online, which has had a great impact on the foreign market.”
He considered carpets as one of the three strategic goods of the country and said: “The National Carpet Center of Iran supports all brands, including Qazvin handmade carpets.”
Regarding the import of raw materials, the head of the National Carpet Center of Iran said: “30% of raw materials for handmade carpets are supplied from foreign markets and efforts have been made to minimize the problem of silk imports from China and Uzbekistan and wool imports from Australia and New Zealand.”
“We are trying to get carpets that need to be repaired inside instead of Turkey,” Pak Dast added.
According to the head of the National Carpet Center of Iran, 2 million weavers annually produce about 3.5 million square meters of handmade carpets in the country.
