The global carpet market will return to Iranians
Hossein Modarres Khiabani, Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry, in a meeting with the National Carpet Center of Iran, while emphasizing the importance of the role of handmade carpets in employment and currency, said: Handmade carpets will return to their original position.
The street teacher suggested that the Council for the Protection of Production and Export be formed at the National Carpet Center in the presence of organizations, associations and the private sector, and that the capacities of the regions and provinces should not be neglected.
He added: “Carpet is the second flag and the identity of Iran and we have handed over our position to other countries.”
According to the official, the export of carpets along with saffron, nuts, etc., which are among the traditional export items, has not increased and we have neglected the amount of exports in the industrial sector.
He called for attention to associations and organizations, the identification of weavers, the identification of carpets, the strengthening of commercial infrastructure, packaging and the creation of permanent exhibitions in this area.
The street teacher said that it is necessary for the handmade carpet to have a serious presence in the expo (UAE-Dubai), adding: it is necessary to provide a permanent space for the handmade carpet.
Farahnaz Rafi, head of the National Carpet Center of Iran, also explained the importance of policy making in the domestic field of handmade carpets and said: International is very important using digital transformation.

Also, Abdullah Bahrami, CEO of the National Union of Handmade Carpet Producers’ Cooperatives, said that updating the strategic document of handmade carpets and the convergence of handmade carpet organizations will strengthen the private sector and strengthen the production and export situation.
