Production of more than 23000 tons of walnuts in Kermanshah
The horticultural director of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kermanshah province announced the production of more than 23,000 tons of walnuts in the province this year.
Reza Zarei announced the area of walnut orchards in Kermanshah province as 8960 hectares and stated: out of this amount, 7640 hectares of walnut orchards are fertile and 1320 hectares have not yet reached the fertile stage.
Referring to the five percent increase in the area of fertile orchards in the province this year, Zarei added: This year, 300 hectares were added to the total fertile walnut orchards in Kermanshah province.
Horticulture director of Kermanshah Jihad Agricultural Organization, stating that this year we have witnessed an increase of more than two thousand tons of walnut production in the province, said: This year, 23 thousand and 33 tons of walnuts were harvested from the orchards of this province.
According to Zarei, 21,000 tons of walnuts were harvested from walnut orchards in Kermanshah province last year.
Zarei stated that the average production of walnuts in Kermanshah province is three tons per hectare.
Zarei said: the walnut harvest from the orchards of Kermanshah province, which started in October, has been completed.
The official went on to say that except for Qasrshirin city, all cities in the province have walnut orchards, and said: Sahneh city has the most walnut orchards in the province with 1974 hectares.
He added: Paveh, Kangavar and Javanrood counties with 1439, 1300 and 1137 hectares of walnut orchards are in the second to fourth provinces in terms of walnut orchards, respectively.
He said that the main walnut orchards in Kermanshah province are native genotypes, said: in the last three years, 100 hectares of walnut orchards of walnut cultivars suitable for cultivation such as Chandler, Franket, Pedro and Jamal have been planted in the province that these walnut cultivars in addition to pruning properties They have a good uniform production and are fertile early.
The director of horticulture of Kermanshah Agricultural Jihad Organization considered the increase of walnut orchards in the province’s program and added: the increase of walnut orchards in the province is due to the welcome of gardeners.
Referring to the support for the development of walnut orchards in the province, he added: We expect 200 hectares of new walnut orchards to be planted in the province this year.
