Iran accounts for 41% of the world’s hand-woven carpet trade
Iran accounts for 41% of the world handmade carpet trade and our country is the market leader.
Faraji, Deputy Minister of Commerce and President of the National Carpet Center of Iran, added:
With the planning we are doing, we hope to be able to increase this amount by 2007.
He said: The best carpets in the world belong to Iran and none of the countries can compete with us.
Regarding carpet weavers’ insurance, Faraji said:
So far, we have covered about 120,000 carpet weavers with insurance that does not have health insurance.
The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran said:
70% of weavers in villages and towns below 20,000 people have full insurance and the problem of the mother
of cities above 20,000 people is being studied and solved.
