Harvesting more than 1700 tons of walnuts in Talesh city
The director of Jihad-e-Agriculture of Talesh city said: walnut harvest is being done from 356 hectares of gardens in Talesh city.
Jaber Tejarati said: it is predicted that 1780 tons of walnut products will be harvested from 356 hectares of walnut orchards in the city. This amount of walnuts will be harvested by 980 farmers and its economic value is about 107 billion rials.
The director of Jihad-e-Agriculture of Talesh city stated: Due to the unfavorable weather conditions last year and the very suitable conditions and good management of the gardens this year, it is expected that there will be a 70% increase in yield compared to last year.
Tejarat continued: Talesh city has 436 hectares of orchards, of which 356 hectares are fertile.
He stated: Walnut trees, in addition to producing a nutritious product, have very valuable wood.
He pointed out that Talesh city has high capacities of agricultural products and walnuts are one of these valuable products, noting that consuming 4 walnut kernels a day increases the essential omega-3 fatty acids.
15% of walnut fat is unsaturated and good for heart health. It lowers bad cholesterol (LDL) and raises good cholesterol (HDL), he said.
