Harvesting 80,000 tons of grapes from Quchan vineyards

Harvesting 80,000 tons of grapes from Quchan vineyards

Seyyed Hashem Naqibi Hosseini, Director of Horticulture, General Directorate of Agricultural Jihad, Khorasan-e-Razavi,
stated that Khorasan-e-Razavi province has 22,000 hectares of vineyards and about 7,000 hectares of rainfed orchards.
Atmospheric conditions range from 360,000 to 400,000 tons per year, with between 55,000 and 60,000 tons usually turning into raisins.

Babian said that the average yield of vineyards is between 18 to 20 tons per hectare, said:
Quchan city with a cultivated area of about 5,000 hectares and production of 80,000 tons of grapes
in Khorasan Razavi is second only to Kashmar region.

Director of Horticulture of Khorasan Razavi Agricultural Jihad, reminding that Khorasan Razavi is ranked third in the country
in terms of area under cultivation and production of grapes, added:
One of the problems we have in the vineyards of Quchan, Kashmar and Khalilabad is single-digit production of grapes in These are the areas.
For example, in Quchan city, raisins are usually cultivated with the names of Soltani or Bidaneh Sefid in order to process raisins,
and in Kashmar region, they produce more Peykani (Askami) or Askari grapes for this purpose.

He continued:
Our advice is to avoid single-digit cultivation in order to maintain stability and to produce different cultivars,
not to eliminate the current cultivars, but to reduce the current cultivars from the cultivated area,
and to eat fresh cultivars that have a good marketability.
They can be used as substitutes for grape by-products such as concentrate or grape juice.

Naqibi Hosseini considered the main problems of grape growers due to its single-digit cultivation and said:
Fortunately, in recent years, with the introduction of these new cultivars, we have been able to place this issue among farmers,
and so far these new cultivars have been well received.

Babian said that 45 large and small workshops in Khorasan Razavi province deal with the issue of raisin processing:
In the province, more than we need to increase the number of factories and processing units,
we need to create processing workshops with modern technology because raisins in These existing workshops are produced
in terms of health and in terms of microbial load for countries that want this raisin,
there are a series of problems that despite the training that is given, this issue is not observed.

Director of Horticulture of Khorasan Razavi Agricultural Jihad added:
If these workshops update the current production line in the first step and change their technology,
and in the second step set up small processing workshops in the gardens for initial processing,
the minimum health and industrial demands will be met. Countries of origin are provided.

Referring to the Quchan Grape Farm Day in Bigler village of the central part of the city, he said:
Farm Day is a kind of workshop in the field,
which in addition to theoretical discussions by researchers and professors are closely related to the above. They get acquainted.

Naqibi Hosseini added:
Holding a farm day has the advantage that theoretical work is combined with practical work and it is a suitable workshop
to visit because most of our gardeners and farmers have a high average age. Objective education is more appropriate than theoretical education.
