Familiarity with toranj and Lachak designs in Iranian carpets
One of the characteristics of Iranian carpets is the presence of toranj and Lachak in it, so that if we consider the carpet as a complete rectangle, the intersection of the diameters of this rectangle is the location of the bergamot in the carpet and Lachak is located in the corner of this rectangle. The toranj used in carpets is sometimes considered to be the result of imitating carpet weavers from the art of book decoration, because no samples of carpets with the design of toranj and Lachak can be found before the Safavid period.
Toranjs are composed of Islamic and Khatai contrasts, which are mostly circular and oval, but can also be seen in rhombus-shaped shapes. Sometimes the toranj on the carpet is considered as the sun in the sky and sometimes it is referred to as the pool in the middle of Golestan. toranjs have two general categories. 1_toranjs are continuous toranjs that are connected to each other in addition to being established. 2_Toranj is a single toranj that forms a large part of the carpet design. Lachakas are also of two general types. Lachak Continuously, such Lachakhs have continued in such a way that they continue on the edge of the carpet frame and are connected to each other. Continuous Lachak Such Lachak have no connection with each other.
