Mohammad Mehdi Farshchi Movahed, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce of the National Carpet Center of Iran, stated: “According to the measures taken by traders and merchants, the National Carpet Center and the Trade Development Organization for Exporting Iranian Handmade Carpets are on the way up.”
He said the country’s export value of handmade carpets in 2014 was $ 290 million, up from $ 359 million in 2015.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade of the National Carpet Center of Iran said: the export of handmade carpets in 2015 compared to 2014 shows a growth of 13% in terms of weight and 23% in terms of value.
He went on to say that this traditional product is world famous and very famous, adding: “Iranian art has been introduced in many countries by handmade carpets.”
Farshchi Movahed stated: Carpet production requires less capital than other industries despite its high added value.
In another part of his speech, he said: “In discussing marketing strategies based on the strategic document of handmade carpets, six basic axes such as penetration in new foreign markets of handmade carpets, facilitating the exchange of market information in the value chain of handmade carpets, development of Persian national brand Carpet, strengthening and developing the demand of the domestic market, maintaining and developing the existing foreign markets of handmade carpets and promoting and promoting the distinctive artistic, cultural and historical features of handmade carpets are followed.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade of the National Carpet Center, while pointing out that the art – industry of Iranian handmade carpets is 3,000 years old, added: “This product has unique economic features that are very important in the resistance economy.”
He also stated about the employment of art – carpet industry: to create a job in the service sector, between 80 to 150 million Tomans, in the industrial sector 150 to 250 million Tomans and in the petrochemical industry 600 million Tomans of credit is needed.
Farshchi Movahed reminded: This amount of investment is very low to create a job in the art-industry of handmade carpets.
