Export of more than 4000 tons of handmade carpets from East Azerbaijan

Supporting carpet weavers and solving their job problems such as insurance and providing financial facilities specifies the process of production and export of handmade carpets in the province.
Sadegh Najafi, head of the East Azerbaijan Trade Organization, said among the carpet weavers of the province that 4,806 tons of handmade carpets worth 159 million and 820 thousand dollars worth of dollars had been exported from East Azerbaijan in 11 months. Carpets are the province and our effort is to increase exports and gain more business opportunities in consumer markets in other parts of the world.
Referring to the existence of Chinese and Pakistani competitors in the world carpet market, he stressed: Carpets woven in other countries are not as good as the quality of woven carpets in Iran, especially in East Azerbaijan.
Najafi said that since the beginning of this year, about 20,000 carpet weavers in the province have been covered by carpet weavers’ insurance. Early returns have been reported to operating banks.
The head of the East Azerbaijan Commercial Organization said: With the follow-up done by the organization in 2007, we will see the solution of the carpet weavers’ insurance problem and the issuance of a medical services booklet.
