Coriander is native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean and is also distributed in Asia. In Iran, it grows in Kermanshah, Abadan, Tabriz, Kerman, Baluchistan and in Bushehr and Borazjan.
Coriander is cultivated in most parts of the world, America, Europe, Asia and Africa. In Iran, it is also grown in most regions.

Coriander is propagated by planting coriander seeds in early spring in temperate regions of Iran. Sowing seeds on lines with distances of 60-40 cm and plant spacing of 15-20 cm is suitable. The fruit usually ripens and is harvested in early autumn.
Coriander is an ancient plant that has been known to man since ancient times and was used by the Egyptians and the people of the Old Testament as a medicine from 1550 BC.
According to the Ebers papyrus, Hippocrates and other physicians around the time of Hippocrates prescribed coriander as a medicine to cure diseases around 400 BC. In 812 AD, by order of Charlemagne, coriander was planted on royal farms in Central Europe.
In the Middle Ages, it was used as a medicine of love and in the story of One Thousand and One Nights, it is mentioned as a sexual stimulant.
