All about Meshkinshahr carpet in Iran
Meshkinshahr carpet is one of the light rural carpets that is woven in Meshkinshahr region located in Ardabil province in northwestern Iran. In this carpet, symmetrical knots with cotton threads and woolen lint have been used. Geometry is one of the common designs and lacquer, green, blue and navy blue are the common colors of Meshkinshahr carpet.
Meshkinshahr carpets, which are generally found in the form of side rugs, are similar in design and pattern to Caucasian rugs.
Dimensions: Most side carpets are more than eight square meters.
Colors: often light brown to dark brown, as well as blue with red, green and light blue and white decorative lines.
Roles: Polygonal and composite designs. Models such as rhombus polygons with a congressional environment with simple and rudimentary motifs. The edges of these colorful rugs include human and animal stylized motifs.
Composition: The fabric of the rugs is made of linen or wool.
Knot: Compressed tissue, Turkish knot and relatively large to 1000 knots per decimeter.
Crack: Strong and long. They are made of matte wool (not shiny).
Quality: Large and not so impressive pieces of live and natural colors and have a relatively dark role. The old and antique carpets of this area are sometimes very beautiful and are rare among Caucasian carpets.
