Harvesting 95,000 tons of grapes from Semnan vineyards
The director of horticulture of Semnan Jihad Agricultural Organization announced the estimation
of 95,516 tons of grapes harvested from the province’s vineyards this year.
Lotfollah Rezaei said:
out of 4920 hectares of vineyards in the province,
4049 hectares are fertile and it is predicted that on average more than 23 tons of crops will be harvested from each hectare.
He added:
Shahroud city with 3765 hectares of cultivation (76.5%) and 78 thousand tons of production,
about 82% of the province’s grape production, has the highest level of cultivation and grape production in the province.
Horticulture director of Jihad Agricultural Organization of Semnan province pointed out:
The work of harvesting early grapes in the province starts in July and more than 50% of late production is harvested
in October and November and Sakhr Fakhri Shahroudi, Lal, Asgari, Yaghouti, Sahebi,
Khalili and Sefid Fakhri are important grape cultivars in the province.
Rezaei reminded:
creating model orchards of early cultivars and implementing a new method of combining grapes with cultivation of pomegranate
and olive orchards with the aim of increasing income for gardeners, especially those with adequate water resources,
developing early vineyards in Semnan, Sorkheh, Aradan and Garmsar, Helping proper nutrition,
winter and green pruning to gardeners in order to increase yield and improve product quality, production of seedlings,
development of vineyards in the province are among the various varieties of programs about grapes.
