$ 4 million export of handicrafts from East Azerbaijan
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of East Azerbaijan announced the export of $ 4 million worth of handicrafts of East Azerbaijan last year.
Morteza Abdar, referring to the continuous and effective activity of handicraft production units and their impact on the economic prosperity of the province, said: Last year, 2015 individual production licenses, 96 workshop production licenses by the provincial handicrafts deputy in order to provide a suitable platform to improve production. And the economic prosperity of the province has been issued and extended by artists, and 363 identification cards of handicraft artists have been issued and presented to artists.
He announced the establishment of festivals and handicrafts exhibitions as one of the most important measures in order to introduce as well as sell the works of the master artists of the province.
The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of East Azerbaijan added: Holding the 96th National Exhibition of Handicrafts and Tabriz International Handicrafts Exhibition 2018 was one of the most important cultural events in the province this year, which played an effective role in presenting and promoting provincial and national handicrafts. Artists from 30 provinces and two foreign countries, we saw an estimated amount of 11 billion rials in cash sales of handicrafts.
The director general of the province’s cultural heritage pointed to the increase in the province’s exports of handicrafts in the last year and said: In 1996, we witnessed the export of handicrafts worth $ 4,224,521.

Abdar pointed out that in the fourth round of judging, East Azerbaijan won the second national award for the quality of durable handicrafts in terms of the number of awards received. In the fourth round of judging the national award for the quality of handicrafts, 26 national awards for artists named artists The province was registered, among which 21 medals were awarded to Tabriz artists, 2 medals to Kalibar artists and three other medals to artists from Maragheh, Osko and Azarshahr, respectively.
