20% of Iran’s raisins are produced in Malayer

In this roundtable, Hassan Hanan, the head of the Hamedan Province Trade Organization, stated that 20% of Iran’s raisins are produced in Malayer.

Hassan Hanan stated that the area under grape cultivation in Malayer is 16,000 hectares and the harvest of 19,000 tons of grapes and added:
Raisin export is not an advantage, what we need is to pay attention to competitive advantages so that we can not lose our market in the long run.
We are already accepted as an observer in the World Trade Organization and to enter the world market,
we must increase our production from Turkey.

The director general of the cold fruits office of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture also said at the ceremony:
the area under fertile grape cultivation in the whole country is 310,000 hectares and Hamedan
is in the fifth rank of Iranian grape production after Khorasan, Fars, Azerbaijan and Qazvin.

Yasemi called Iran the third largest producer of raisins and added:
More than 70% of the 35,000 tons of raisins produced in Hamadan province are produced in Malayer,
and proper planning can increase our quality and put us in a good position in export competitions.

This roundtable was organized by the Studies and Research Center of the Provincial Trade Organization,
the Malayer Raisin Producers and Exporters Association and Malayer University.
