Ahmad Masoumi during his visit to the orchard development projects in Meshginshahr said: With God’s care and favorable weather conditions, this year the production of grapes in the vineyards of this city has been done properly and we predict that the harvest time will last until the end of October.

Announcing that Meshginshahr has more than 2,000 hectares of fruitful vineyards, he added: On average, 26,000 tons of grapes are harvested annually from the vineyards of Meshginshahr.

Director of Meshginshahr Agricultural Jihad, announcing that favorable production conditions have caused our forecast for grape production to be estimated at 30,000 tons, clarified: In Meshginsha city, 12 varieties of grapes are produced, the most famous of which are Shahani, Sahebi, Khalili and Yaghouti Is.

The official pointed to the modernization of cultivation and processing of grape vineyards and said: The average yield of grapes in the modern Russian method is more than 31 tons per hectare, while less than half of this production is seen in the traditional method.

Masoumi called on gardeners to take advantage of employment and entrepreneurship facilities in the sector to turn their traditional gardens into Russian.

The director of Meshginshahr agricultural jihad reminded: In addition to different cities of Ardabil, the products produced in Meshginshahr vineyards have customers from Isfahan, Shiraz and Tehran provinces, which we export in appropriate packages.

Masoumi further stated that the grapes produced in Meshginshahr are desirable products in terms of quality and having the materials needed by the body, and added: Perhaps Meshginshahr is one of the few areas in the country that has a variety of vineyard products.

During the visit, a number of farmers also announced their readiness to modernize their vineyards and called on city and provincial officials to establish and operate conversion units in the region to prevent wastage of their produce, especially grapes and apples.
