The Deputy Minister of Handicrafts of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of Zanjan Province said: Due to inflation, the production of kilims in the province has stopped.

Latif Karimi-Soura regarding the reason for stopping the mass production of kilims in the province, clarified: Due to the current inflation, mass production of kilims is not affordable, because the minimum wage of a worker for kilim weaving is 500 thousand tomans and no person can exceed He weaves 2 meters of kilim, so if the same two-meter kilim goes on the market after a month, it will not be sold at a price of 500,000 Tomans, which is only the cost of the weaver, but sometimes some rural families weave kilims when they are unemployed. It is considered profitable for them, with these interpretations, it must be acknowledged that the production of kilims in the province has stopped.

He also referred to the program of presenting packaging for the handicrafts of the province and added: this project is being implemented and the craftsmen of the province will be invited to learn how to package these industries in a meeting, because these packages are designed in sheets and how to fold It as well as the design of the seller’s logo will be done by the craftsmen.

Karimi-Soura added: A limited number of these packages will be provided to the craftsmen so that they can supply them after training the craftsmen. These packages will also be provided to knife-makers and blacksmiths, but since the production and sale of kilims in the province has stopped, they will not be properly packaged.

The official noted: These packages are designed in a scientific and principled manner, and the limited firefighters in the province, who number about 60 people, will also use this package.

In response to why knife makers are reluctant to use these packages, he said: The current type of knife sales has become a culture among these artisans, and given that culture is a kind of infrastructure, it will take time to change. In the past, knife makers used to roll knives when selling knives, and despite the announcement of packaging distribution, the trend is still going on, but to solve this problem, we will do our best to take a step towards starting to change this culture.

The Deputy Minister of Handicrafts of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism of Zanjan Province, announcing the restriction of the import of Chinese handicrafts, reminded: This import is limited due to the increase in currency prices and unaffordable entry of Chinese handicrafts into the country. We also plan to reduce sales of Chinese handicrafts through retailers.
